A Contest! - Redesign psd2css Online

psd2css Online Redesign Contest

We need a new look!  

Design a new website design for psd2css Online.  You can include new branding material (logo, letterhead, business card designs) if you want, but the website design is the primary goal.  The winner will receive 1 year of every feature available at psd2css Online for a year!  There will be 2 runner ups chosen too that will receive 2 months of psd2css Online.

On the one hand I want to describe exactly what everything should look like.  But on the other hand, you people are some of the most talented web designers on the planet.  So I think for the most part I'll let you all come up with your best ideas for design and branding for psd2css Online.

Contest Rules

Submissions

Designs are to be submitted as follows:

• MUST be submitted as an email with attachments to contest@psd2cssonline.com
• MUST include a Photoshop PSD files prepared for conversion at psd2css Online (layers merged and named, etc.) and built/named to generate a Drupal Theme.
• MAY include the generated code with your added text, javascript, css, extra PHP, etc.  It is encouraged that you augment the generated code.  That's what I intend our users to do anyway.  So start with a PSD design, have psd2css Online generate the code, then add your own special magic to make your submission.

Contest Dates

The contest starts March 4, 2010 and will end on April 4, 2010 or when 200 designs have been submitted, whichever happens first (so don't wait!).

Content

The new design should include all of the existing content on the psd2css Online website.  All submissions should generate Drupal themes (the current site is a Drupal site and the winning design/theme will be applied to the existing CMS installation).  

Current site content includes: A Landing Page, Product Description, Forums, Tutorials, Documentation, the Blog, Search, User Testimonials and of course the Upload Form itself.  Feel free to suggest/design new content as well.

The product line will change and your site design needs to reflect this.  The 2 Weeks Free of all features will remain.  But the current psd2css Online Unlimited service will be split into 4 tiers of product:

• Enterprise - Intended for large web developers - includes all features including the CMS functionality.  Cost TBD
• Business - Intended for small web developers - includes PNG optimization, video conversion for the video player feature, per DIV class and id naming (to match the layers in the Photoshop file) but no CMS functionality.  Cost TBD
• Home - Intended for One Off users.  A home or small business building their own web site - Includes all current features minus Business and Enterprise class features.  Cost $19.95/mo
• Free - Same as the current free usage - minimal functionality, CSS DIVs from Photoshop Layers.  Cost Free.

You should design in your own badge or in some other way take credit for the design (not too obnoxious please :) ).  I'll leave that in when it goes live.

Suggested Use of psd2css Online Features

The site is not only the SaaS portal to the psd2css Online service, it also needs to serve as a showcase for some of our greatest features.  So use what ever psd2css Online features you want to build the site.  Here are some that I suggest however:

• _slide - probably something for the landing page.  Slider _spane content suggestions: Product Descriptions, Testimonials, Feature Descriptions, etc.  Use your imagination.
• Centering - I'd prefer _center2
• _bodybg-rx
• _frame
• _menu and/or _hmenu
• If you have an idea for a good _video for a slider pane or elsewhere, design it in and let me know what sort of video would be good for it. 

Design Ownership

The winning design becomes the property of psd2css Online.

Prizes

The grand prize winner (1) will be the new design for the psd2css Online website.  It will stay the working theme for the site for at least 6 months.  You will have your badge or other credit in the design for all visitors to psd2css Online to see.  The grand prize winner will also get 1 year of the Enterprise level psd2css Online service.

There will be 2 Runner Up designs choosen.  Those designs will be hosted by psd2css Online as examples of great design.  Your badge or other credit for yourself that you build into the design will be visible.  The 2 Runner Up submitters will receive 2 months of the Enterprise level psd2css Online service.
