Problem with Links

I am trying to use your program to build a website with a home page that branches off into a few different individual sites. Shaun mentioned that the best way to do this would be to make 2 (or however many pages - as long as they are totally different) separate PSD files and put the generated code in separate folders.

I am having problems with the links on the home page. I separated the two pages I built so far and uploaded them...so I have files named psd2css(1) and psd2css(2). Using tutorial #6 I changed the file titled index in psd2css(2). Everything worked perfectly and all of the buttons redirected to the proper urls - however using the same method for psd2css(1) didn't work...(that is the home page). How can I get the links in psd2css(1) to redirect to the page in psd2css(2)?

Does it matter what order we upload the files in? I can email the files if it makes this easier to understand.

Thanks so much! = )

Hi Ericka - Here is a quick

Hi Ericka -

Here is a quick example of 2 completely separate designs in separate folders that have links to one another. But I'll comment - in most cases this isn't what you want. Ericka- you asked for this specifically and I think your situation warrants it, but in most cases using _page is a better way to go. Here is the example though:

New Issue With Links

Hi Shaun...

I decided it might be more simple if I condensed my site where I have the same menu for every page. However, none of my links are working. I watched the links tutorial several times but can't figure out the problem. There were a few instances where I got the home page link to work, but haven't gotten any of the sub pages to link.

I have Word Press on my home page and use Go Daddy which implements Word Press automatically...could this be part of the problem?? (If you need to look at the Do Daddy Word Press info, the link is http://www.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting.aspx?ci=15005)

I'm not sure how to upload my photoshop file to your forum so I'm going to email it to you. Thanks so much for your help!!

Hi Ericka - :) Yep - the

Hi Ericka -

:) Yep - the fact that it's wordpress was important :)

So first, I got the PSD that you sent (thank you). You don't want the _page layers when you're making a wordpress template.

Next, the link code needs to be tweaked by hand after you make the template. There are comments in the generated code so it's easy to find. So do this:

for each link, visit the page in your wordpress site that you want the link to link to. Copy the URL from the address bar in your browser. Paste it in to the href="...." part of the anchor tag for that link.

That will get your psd2css Online links to point to your wordpress pages.

Thanks.

Still Can't Get Links to Work

Hello Shawn...

I still can't get any of my links to work. I removed the _page layer names from my psd document and I tried adding the urls (href) in the word press editor but the links still didn't work. I also tried editing in the index file in the unzipped folder (the one from your site) but I've yet to get the links to work. I even tried taking the word press off of my home page because I thought that might be the problem, but that didn't make a difference either.

Is there something I'm doing wrong in photoshop or something I'm doing when I'm editing the html? I don't know how to attach my photoshop file in the forum so I will email it to you again.

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious here...I've tried a ton of different combinations to figure this out but can't get the links to work. Thanks so much for your help - I really appreciate it!

- Ericka
