Old IE Browsers and PNG

One of the really great things about psd2css Online is the use of PNG files and transparency. The photoshop artists know about using transparency in their layers and psd2css Online really relies on that to get the great effects possible without all the hand coding.

However, Microsofts Internet Explorer 6 and earlier have a problem displaying the transparent part of PNG image files. All of the current versions of the major browsers including IE7 have fixed the problem, but there are more than a few out there still using IE6 and IE5.5.

If you want your web pages to display correctly for those folks too, you'll need to use the IE PNG Fix (or similar).
Here is a link: http://www.twinhelix.com/css/iepngfix

I have not added any special handling to the code generated by psd2css Online to support PNG display in those older browsers in order to keep the code generated as clean as possible.

But if you know of any easier or better fixes for the old IE PNG problem, please feel free to post them here as comments to this forum topic.

Thanks.

Scott wrott:

Hi Guys,

I have designed a website and am having a few problems with it. the website is www.sunsetvalley.co.uk I have the fall out menus and all is done right in the PSD but there are some issues with sub menu links not being spaced correctly apart and are all different spacings - yet these are fine in firefox, opera and on mac.

Can anyone help me with this probable bug?

Thanks

Scott

Hi Zomme - Ah hah! I think

Hi Zomme -

Ah hah! I think that I misunderstood your problem. I believe it is fixed now. It's one of those crazy 'spaces between tags' problems that IE does strange things for. Could you try it again and let me know if you are getting what you expect? Thanks.

You may just want to have it

You may just want to have it as an option where if someone includes a blank layer with then name _pnghack or something like that, it will add the code automatically :)

Or Even Better...

I just added it to the code generator. It applies a jquery based IE6 PNG transparency fix for all conversions. The generated code is benign for browsers other than IE6 (and earlier?).

So PSD files with transparency should just work perfectly for all browsers including IE6 now. Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks.
